AbstractO modelo de umidade no solo utilizado operacionalmente no Centro de Previsão do Tempo e Estudos Climáticos (CPTEC/INPE) apresenta uma limitação na representação dos processo próximos à saturação. O presente trabalho apresenta uma nova formulação capaz de simular a dinâmica da água no solo quando o armazenamento supera à capacidade de campo. As simulações são validadas usando observações de umidade no solo obtidas pelo Experimento de Grande Escala na Biosfera-Atmosfera na Amazônia (LBA) em Rondônia. ABSTRACT: The operational model of soil moisture used by the Weather Forecast and Climate Research Center (CPTEC/INPE) has a limitation to represent processes close to saturation. A new formulation, able to represent the soil water dynamic when the soil storage is about field capacity, is presented in this work. Model's simulations are validated using soil moisture date from sites of the Large Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA) in Rondonia.
